FAQ's
1. Why does the Board need to consider a vaccination policy?
COVID-19 is in the community and many NZMCA members are at high risk of contracting the virus. Protecting our volunteers and members from Covid-19 is the Board’s primary concern. The feedback we’re receiving suggests many members staying at our parks, or attending NZMCA events, would like the confidence that other members are also fully vaccinated. A vaccination policy should also make it easier for the NZMCA to keep parks open throughout each setting within the new ‘traffic light’ protection framework.
2. How does the new protection framework apply to NZMCA Parks?
The below table outlines how the parks would operate under each of the new ‘traffic light’ level settings. Note, this table was prepared on 28 October 2021 based on the information made available to the public via covid.govt.nz.
3. Why do Park Custodians need to be fully vaccinated too?
On 26 October 2021, the Government confirmed vaccinations will be required for all workers at businesses where customers need to show COVID-19 Vaccination Certificates, such as hospitality and close-contact businesses. Therefore, if the Board decides members must be fully vaccinated when visiting NZMCA Parks the vaccination policy will have to extend to Park Custodians too.
4. What if I refuse to get fully vaccinated?
Unless you have a justifiable exemption, for the safety of other members and visitors you will not be able to visit the parks or continue carrying out your Park Custodian duties.
5. How will I be expected to monitor and enforce a vaccination policy?
This process is still being considered and your feedback will help shape how we monitor and enforce a vaccination policy. Whatever process is adopted, it will need to protect your health and safety and avoid difficult situations with those who hold strong views on the vaccine.
