Your New Job
The Product Owner understands the business problem that needs to be solved and assists in communication & clarifying business requirements for the delivery teams. The Product Owner works directly with the Senior Product Owner (and CPO) and assists the Product team in performing research, analysing data, identifying consumer behaviours and trends, as well as monitoring product performance and recommending alterations that align with the product strategy and roadmaps.
Day to day looks like:
- Knowing every part of a product, its purpose, how it works and what each part does.
- Understanding the end-user, who they are and what they need, and how the product functions properly for them.
- Planning work for design, machine learning and engineering teams.
- Keeping stakeholders updated on product development progress and planning.
- Developing criteria that determines the required amount and quality of work.
Core Responsibilities include
- Understands the business problem that needs to be solved and works with relevant stakeholders to provide solutions
- Identifies the potential impact on new and existing processes
- Gathers requirements and ensures user stories are written clearly, reflecting business proposition with appropriate acceptance criteria
- Is the customer advocate for the engineering team
- Works with internal stakeholders to establish what is required and how it impacts them
- Investigates, researches and validates the background for user stories (including understanding the system from the past, present, future perspective)
- Ensures the user story reflects the Product vision, and Product strategy
- Understands test cases to ensure they reflect the story and have relevant acceptance criteria
- Communicates with the commercial, research and customer success teams regularly as part of requirements gathering, as well as for customer support and queries, and deployments that impact users
- Supports Product & Engineering leaders on requirements validation
- Is the point of contact for the Development team on User Story and Acceptance Criteria clarification
- Supports with testing and ticketing
- Is proficient in wireframing and design of product features, working closely with Yabble’s Product Designer/s.
- Supports the building of Product roadmaps and ensuring the roadmaps adhere to strategy.
- Maintains library of product documentation.
Role Requirements
- Prior experience in a similar Product Owner or Business Analyst role (ideally in a Product Development or SaaS environment).
- You will be comfortable working with a predominantly remote team (across various continents).
- Experience in eliciting requirements through agile methods, for example, workshops and 'how might we' thinking
- Experience in an agile environment preferred:
- Lean, agile methods, and writing user stories. Participating in (or leading) Agile / Scrum teams and structure e.g. ticketing, sprint planning. Thinking like QA, defining use cases and edge cases in requirements gathering
- Product UX and/or Design skills desirable (eg wireframing or UI design skills, translate to requirements and tickets for engineering)
- Experienced in using tools like JIRA, Figma, Confluence, Productboard, Slack, Microsoft 365
- Strong communication skills and the ability to create clear technical requirements and documentation.
